Playa San Juan – the quiet fishing town with little tourism

Playa San Juan, the quiet fishing town, is located on the south-west coast of Tenerife and mainly locals live there. You can also see tourists, but there is only little tourism.

From Playa San Juan you have a wonderful view of the neighbouring island La Gomera. In the town there are shopping possibilities, restaurants, cafés, a big square and a small port. Many fish restaurants, which offer fresh fish, can be found around the port. Not far from the port, there is a diving school.
At the port, they also offer boat trips to Los Gigantes where you can watch whales and dolphins.

There are long promenades at the seaside and also playgrounds for children.
Since 2009, Playa San Juan has a very nice artificial sandy beach with adjacent restaurants.

In the surroundings of Playa San Juan, there are many banana plantations and varieties of flowers.
Life is peaceful there and without any hustle and bustle.

Beacause of the resident fishers many fish restaurants offer delicious sea food dishes made of freshly caught fish. On the plaza with its tall trees happens the life of the town.

In Playa San Juan diving lovers find lava shelves with steep faces and grottoes underwater where fishes, sea horses and little pulpos (octopus) have their habitat. The resident dive center/diving school offers normal dive sessions, but also diving by night and taster courses for interested parties.
