Other beach-bays with black smooth sand, like the Playa los Patos, Playa del Ancon and Playa del Pozo, provide you the typical feeling of the volcanic island Tenerife and are real good insider tip. The big touristic boom didn't arrive yet, so it is still quiet area. The wonderful beaches Playa El Bollullo and Playa Jardin are nearby. You need just around 10min by car to get there. If you want a change of swimming in the Atlantic ocean, you could go to Puerto de la Cruz and swim in a complex with pools, e.g. Lago Martianez.
